Required Training
Safeguarding Youth Training is required for all Scouting America registered volunteers. Golden Spread Council requires Safeguarding Youth Training to be valid for the entire registration period. In other words, the expiration date of each leader’s training must be later than the expiration date of their registration. Safeguarding Youth Training is available online or through a facilitated course.
How to Complete Online Safeguarding Youth Training
First-time users: Visit the My.Scouting website and create an account. From the My.Scouting portal, Youth Protection Training is available through the BSA Learn Center. The course is made up of three learning modules and a certification test. All four parts must be completed. Upon completion, print the training certificate. Training certificates must be turned in with all adult applications.
Returning users: Log in to My.Scouting . Click on “Menu,” then “My Dashboard.” On the Youth Protection Training listing, choose “Retake Course.” Complete the training and print out the completion certificate. Records sync with the national and council databases within 24-48 hours of completion.
Safeguarding Youth is only good for one year. (MUST BE TAKEN EVERY YEAR!).
