Council Update- March 30

For the safety of our employees, volunteers, and participants, the Golden Spread Council (GSC) shall support local government and community efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. We have updated office operations due to recent Shelter-in-place orders issued by the city of Amarillo. More information regarding these orders is available at: www.amarilloalerts.com.

As this is an evolving situation, this information is subject to change. Please know that we are monitoring developments regarding COVID-19 both locally and through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Harrington Scout Headquarters and all camp properties are closed to the public through at least April 30th, 2020. We will continue to share updates through email, our Facebook Page and website.

The GSC is still here to support Scouting. Our professional staff will be working from home and email is the recommended form of outreach with any questions. Contact information for your district team is available in our Council Directory. Messages left at the Council Office at (806) 358-6500 will be returned the next business day.  Once the Shelter-in-place order is lifted, someone will be available at the Service Center to take your call.

GSC Scout Shop
This Scout Shop is closed through at least April 30th.  For immediate Scout Shop Needs, please contact Donna at donna.haley@scouting.org

Activities and Events
“Keep Scouting Going!” We strongly encourage that districts, units, and council committees consider using technology to continue with as many of their normally scheduled meetings and events as possible through at least April 30, 2020. Zoom is one FREE resource available for virtual meetings. The FREE option hosts up to 100 participants for up to 40 minutes.

There are still many opportunities to continue Scouting activities from home during this time. Follow our Facebook Page or visit the National BSA Website for details and ideas.

We will continue to update you on relevant developments, and we appreciate your understanding of any necessary adjustments in the interest of health and safety.
